The horsepower demands of the NH 460 haybine were greater than the baler, thrower and wagon. 560 always went on the haybine and 300 on the baler. I do remember before having the 656, quite often we were baling and using 9' haybine at the same time. gallons of gas per hour compared to 560D and 656D at about 1 Imp. Personally I still prefer that old 300 with narrow front for baling, problem was the 300 drank 3 Imp. They had neither chloride nor wheel weights, just 16.9x38 tires. Bear in mind the 300 always had chloride and wheel weights, probably weighed as much as the 560 or 656. ![]() I might add I also had a few bad hills, and the 300 did it before the other tractors were around. The 300 still holds the record on my farm for the most bales in a given day, mainly because I had more good help to stow the bales away. Started out with Farmall 300 then 560D and later 656D. My land was reasonably flat and over the years I pulled the baler with 3 different tractors. ![]() ![]() My baler had a thrower and I pulled 20' wagons behind always. I had a S-69 which would also be in the same class only an older model. Mike: I don't think the hp requirments for those 3 balers will vary greatly.
